Michael Louie, P.Eng.

Product Validation Engineer

Michael brings more than 17 years of experience in the fuel cell industry, as well as extensive knowledge in design validation, component design, and product development.

As a professional engineer, his fuel cell career started with developing in-situ and accelerated stress tests, conducting component failure analysis, and creating characterization techniques for automotive and lower power fuel cell designs. Michael then moved on to the Automotive Fuel Cell Cooperation (AFCC), where he led the design validation of stack, GDL, and membrane components, and developed technical relationships with suppliers and external laboratories.

Michael was drawn to OverDrive by the excitement and challenge of being in the thick of the constantly evolving clean energy industry. Michael’s role includes project planning, establishing design validation plans, assisting suppliers in the execution of their test programs, and taking the lead on designing OverDrive’s in-house test facility.

He is passionate about being able to develop and create new things that he can be proud of at the end of each day. Outside of work, Michael can be found tinkering with things that are not necessarily broken, exploring new places on his bucket list, and running around with his children.

Ask him about: how to cross the street in Ho Chi Minh City.
